Plastik Banana Design Werkshop (PBDW) is a Utah based digital design fabrication firm located in Salt Lake City, Utah. PBDW works closely with architects, artists, designers, and engineers to provide value added support for specialized components of product and spatial design. Utilizing the latest in digital fabrication and CAD (Computer Aided Design) technology, Plastik Banana offers an innovative approach to design and production, to bridge the gap from concept to realization. PBDW meets a new niche in the ever expanding world of design and construction through the integration of technical craft, research, and exploration for innovative components of the modern physical environment. Services include fabrication, visualization, rapid prototyping, design workshop and project management. In addition to providing support for design professionals, Plastik Banana engages in-house design projects that include digital art, furniture and other physical and digital products.

Plastik Banana is comprised of a unique blend of individuals from various parts of the world. The firm includes graduates from the Masters in Architecture degree program at the University of Utah’s College of Architecture and Planning, a graduate of the undergraduate Urban Planning program from the same school, and a professional photographer. In addition to the aforementioned credits, each individual brings highly specialized expertise in fields ranging from digital photography, mathematics and science, to traditional woodworking and carpentry. This distinct blend of skill sets provides the opportunity to explore the relationships between design, research of innovative fabrication and construction techniques, and the contextual settings and environments in which we live. Each individual brings valuable knowledge to the production of highly specialized components and products for our modern world.

Plastik Banana maintains in-house CNC (Computer Numerical Control), Laser, and 3D printing technology capable of producing highly accurate physical components from CAD, parametric, and 3D modeling programs. In addition to advanced technical machinery, PBDW also utilizes traditional wood and metal working tools in an on-site workshop. Incorporating technical production with comprehensive 3D modeling and CAD/CAM experience, Plastik Banana develops progressive design processes and techniques that strive to produce sustainable and accessible design and product. This wide-ranging scope of experience allows for PBDW to perform in-depth consultation and project management, as well as the production of unique architectural, artistic, and consumer end-product.
